ĄWhat is "Zenkuren" ?

History of Zenkuren and outline of its services

Zenkuren is an abbreviation of All Japan Laundry & Drycleaning Association.It was organized in March of 1958, by Laundry & Drycleaning Unions of cleaners in Tokyo, Hokkaido and all the Prefectures, based on the law (Kan-ei Hou), which was made in order to maintain the standard of environmental health related businesses. It is the only legal organization in the cleaning industry, under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Health and Welfare. At present, the number of members of the unions is up to 22,000.

Zenkuren has made an effort to maintain and improve national public health and has assisted cleaners in acquiring laundering and drycleaning skills in order to gain consumers' confidence. It also set up a standard of compensation for damages of garments which might be resulted from laundering and/or drycleaning in case of trouble.
Zenkuren is trying to propel the cleaning industry toward the 21st century, while creating its new image and providing several kinds of valued-added businesses.

Nowadays, fashion has been diversified. As a result, new materials and new processing methods have been produced and will continue to be developed. Under such circumstances, members of the unions try to provide consumers with high quality services, by collecting updated valuable information through periodicals published by related institutions, and also by attending technical seminars planned by their unions.

If a customer complained about cleaning service and there was a possibility of themembers' responsibility, they would cope with it according to a standard of @compensation for damages of garments which might be resulted from laundering or drycleaning.

What is important is skills and confidence. The members concern customers in the first place, and pursue businesses supporting a healthy, enjoyable, and beautiful life.

Have you ever seen L.D. sign? It is given to members of our unions in all prefectures. L and D letters are the initials of laundering and drycleaning respectively.

S sign

‚rsign is given to cleaners who registered in Guidance Center for National Kan-ei Businesses in beginning operation according to "the standard stipulation of cleaning business ". S stands for Standard, Sanitation and Safety.

All members of the unions and cleaners who registered in Guidance Center for National Kan-ei Businesses, launder and/or dry-clean appropriately to protect a clean life of national people. In addition, they would compensate adequately for damages of garments that might be resulted from laundering or drycleaning.
